[2026] Neurodivergent Narratives - Writing Prompt #10
This month, we begin our exploration of special interests with editor Allyson Hogan at the helm.
Meet our editor for March, Allyson Hogan (she/her). Allyson has been writing for as long as she has been able to hold a pencil, from nine-page fourth grade “novels” inspired by fantasy worlds to years of short stories and poetry shaped by a deep love of language. Writing is one of her most enduring special interests, and she is drawn to engaging characters, inventive phrasing, and work that is emotionally honest and purposeful.
Allyson reads with the same enthusiasm she brings to her own creative practice. She values pieces that have something to say, whether through subtle imagery, sharp dialogue, or a voice that feels unmistakably real. She is less concerned with strict word counts than with clarity and intention, encouraging writers to say exactly what they need to say in the space it requires, whether that is under one hundred words or approaching the anthology limit.
As March Editor of Neurodivergent Narratives, Allyson invites contributors to explore the theme of special interests: the spark of a new fixation, the comfort of shared obsession, the ache of something that once burned bright, and the joy of honoring what captivates us. She looks forward to reading work that captures the intensity, creativity, and community that special interests make possible.
