Thank you for this enlightening episode.

I lost my father 4 years ago and it felt validating to hear Mady's affirmative words. And I also recognised, how deeply I grief at the moment for my younger self, since I'm just to become 40 and on my way to put the puzzle pieces together. I spend so many energy on trying to learn "the (neurotypical) way", only to learn I was always right about me and that their way often sucks. (Phase 2 Kübler Ross?)

To Angela: If you allow I'd like to speak in defense of your smart ass brain. I worked with people with Borderline PD and many know, they have this strong urge to cut themselves, too. But the reason for that is often misunderstood or interpreted as a death wish or cry for help in society. They do it, because the inner tension is extremely high and the mind spiraling is unbearable. And an functioning solution from the brain to prevent a dissociation or overload is to cut. This works, because pain stimuli overlap the mind spirals and gives immediate release. So it's a functioning solution, but as Mady pointed out, just on short terms. For the long terms it is better to find less dangerous skills or even better learn to prevent to get into high tension.

What I wanna say: Angela, you can tell your brain, it's a good idea in theory and that you'll find a even better way together.

Memo to myself: Practice, what you preach! ;)
